Swindon Community in Shock as Driver Admits Killing Teen in Fatal Crash
At Swindon Crown Court today, Ivy Mwangi, 52, admitted to causing the death of 14-year-old Harry Parker in a devastating road collision that has rocked the local community.
Tragic Morning Walk Ends in Horror
On November 25, 2022, Harry was walking to school along Akers Way when a Jeep Compass struck him. The teenager succumbed to his injuries, leaving family, friends, and the community heartbroken.
Driver Pleads Guilty but More Charges Await
Mwangi admitted driving without a licence, which caused Harry’s death. However, she was not charged today with causing death by careless driving or driving uninsured. The court has adjourned the case for the Crown Prosecution Service to review the additional charges, with a hearing set for June 27, 2024.
Trial Date Set Amid Community Outrage
If Mwangi pleads not guilty to the remaining charges, a trial is scheduled for February 24, 2025. The trial will last four to five days to uncover the full circumstances of the tragic collision.
Mwangi, from Doulton Close, Redhouse, was released on unconditional bail. The decision has sparked mixed reactions among locals still struggling with the loss of young Harry Parker.
