Woman Arrested Over 40-Year-Old Newborn Baby Death

A 57-year-old woman has been arrested by Northamptonshire Police in connection with the death of a newborn baby girl from more than four decades ago. The suspect, whose identity is being kept under wraps, faces a murder investigation.

Fast forward to 2023, new evidence surfaced during a cold case review by Northamptonshire Police. This breakthrough led to the woman’s arrest early on June 11. She has been taken to a local police station for questioning by detectives.

Senior Detective Thanks Officers as Case Continues

Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit praised the complexity of the case and thanked the dozens of officers who worked tirelessly over the past 48 hours.

The suspect has now been released on bail while investigations carry on. Northamptonshire Police have not made further comments as the inquiry remains ongoing.
