Sophie Sheppard, 34, slapped with five-year dog ban after deadly Mastiff attacks in Wiltshire
Rampaging Mastiff Sparks Fear Across Wiltshire
Sophie Sheppard, from Moredon, Akers, has been banned from owning dogs for five years after her Mastiff-cross unleashed a string of brutal attacks. The beast was seized and faces euthanasia – though an appeal is pending.
Series of Shocking Attacks and Threats
- On March 30, Sheppard was caught shoplifting at Morrisons on Akers Avenue. When confronted, she untied her dog and threatened to set it on the store manager.
- April 11 saw the dog lunge at another dog on Moredon Road, biting the owner and sparking a heated verbal scuffle.
- Two weeks later, on April 26, the Mastiff bit another dog nearby, causing injuries.
- On May 3, the dog jumped a neighbour’s garden fence and mauled their cat to death.
Police Crack Down and Court Verdict
Sheppard was arrested on May 8 following a public appeal. Alongside the dog ban, she must complete up to 30 days of rehabilitation. PC Paul Croft, from the Dogs team, revealed the community’s alarm at the dog’s savage behaviour.
“Sheppard showed no inclination to train or control her dog. Instead, she verbally abused victims and threatened to unleash the dog on them. We’re pleased the courts have disqualified her from owning dogs for five years,” said PC Croft.
