Teen Arrested After Concrete Block Smashes Bus Window in Freshwater
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following a shocking spree of vandalism in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, on Saturday night.
Youth Gang Damages Cars in Freshwater
Police were called just after 10:50pm to reports that two cars had been targeted by a group of youths on Upper Princes Road and School Green Road. One vehicle’s wing mirror was smashed, while a second had its rear window completely shattered.
Concrete Block Thrown at Bus, Passenger Injured
At around 11:30pm, a concrete block was hurled at a bus on 1 Road, smashing a window. A 49-year-old passenger suffered a cut to his head from the flying glass.
PC Martin Egerton said: “This was a dangerous and irresponsible act that could have resulted in serious injuries to the passenger, who thankfully was only left with a cut to his head.
“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and I am keen to hear from anyone who has information as to who was responsible.”
Suspect Released but Investigation Continues
The 17-year-old local lad was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage but has since been released without charge. He remains under investigation.
