Man in Military Truck Rams Police Cars in Taunton Chaos
A 41-year-old man has been arrested after a dramatic standoff in the Taunton area this Sunday afternoon, September 10.
Threats, Damage and a Military Truck Escape
At around 4.40pm, police rushed to a home in Norton Fitzwarren following reports that a man was threatening someone inside and causing property damage. When officers arrived, the man bolted—behind the wheel of a large military truck.
Crash and Dash on the A361
The suspect then crashed straight into two police cars parked to block his escape, badly wrecking both vehicles. Miraculously, no officers or bystanders were hurt in the high-speed collision.
He didn’t stop there. The man drove to the A361 M5 overbridge, jumped out, and climbed over the railings. This forced the motorway to shut down in both directions, causing disruption for commuters.
Swift Arrest and Ongoing Probe
About 25 minutes later, police caught the man and took him into custody. Authorities are now investigating what sparked the incident and seeking more information from witnesses.
