Tragic Discovery: Oxford Brookes Student Found Dead in Epping Forest Pond

The search for 19-year-old Oxford Brookes student Richard Okorogheye ended in tragedy on Monday evening. Richard, who suffered from sickle cell disease, had not been seen since leaving his family home in Ladbroke Grove on 22 March.

Body Found in Epping Forest

Police searching for Richard uncovered a body in a pond in Epping Forest. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but officers say there are no signs of foul play.

Investigation Underway

  • Detective Superintendent Danny Gosling expressed heartfelt condolences to Richard’s family.

“My deepest sympathies go out to Richard’s family at this incredibly difficult time. This was not the outcome that any of us had hoped for,” said Det Supt Gosling. “I would like to extend my thanks to the many officers, staff, and members of the public who helped in the extensive search for Richard.”
