Shed Burglaries Strike Bestwood and Top Valley
Over the past month, more than 20 shed break-ins have rocked Bestwood and Top Valley. Residents from Broadwood Road, Shoreswood Close, and several other streets reported padlocks smashed and belongings stolen.
Stolen Goods Include Bikes, Tools, and More
Victims have lost bikes, power tools, a motorbike, a moped, and fishing gear in the spate of thefts. The police say these break-ins have caused significant distress to homeowners.
Police Make Arrests as Investigation Continues
Officers from Bestwood neighbourhood policing team made a breakthrough on Monday, 20 February, executing a warrant at Ranskill Gardens, Top Valley. A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of 22 counts of burglary. A 16-year-old boy was also arrested earlier on 17 February under the same suspicion. Both have been released on bail as inquiries continue.
Several stolen items have already been recovered, and police urge anyone affected to come forward to help return goods to their rightful owners.
Police Plea: Help Us Catch the Culprits
“This has been an ongoing investigation for myself and my team to get to the bottom of exactly who is responsible,” said Bestwood Sergeant Katie Taylor. “Thanks to our officers’ hard work, we secured an arrest. We are taking these reports extremely seriously and working hard to gather every piece of evidence.” “If you believe you’ve been burgled or have info, please get in touch. Even a small detail can help. We want to give stolen items back to their owners.” “We understand how upsetting these thefts are financially and emotionally. Don’t hesitate to report anything to us or speak to a patrolling officer.”
