Gas Canister Explosion Rocks Wythenshawe Home

Police rushed to a Wythenshawe property on Pewsey Road just after midnight on Wednesday following reports of a loud explosion. Emergency crews found a gas canister had detonated inside, causing major damage to walls and windows.

Two Taken to Hospital, One Man Arrested

A 32-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were treated at hospital as a precaution. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody for questioning.

Investigation Underway, Police Call for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Christopher Potter of GMP’s City of Manchester Division said: “This was a nasty explosion that caused significant damage to the property. It’s lucky no one was seriously hurt, though those inside are understandably shaken.”

He added: “We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public. Our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information to come forward.”
