Christmas Chaos as Paramedics Attacked in Swindon
Emergency services faced a shocking Christmas ordeal in Swindon yesterday. At around 4:30pm on December 25, South Western Ambulance Service staff were called to a medical incident on Morse Street. While attending the call, they feared for their own safety and had to retreat to their ambulance—only for it to be rammed by a vehicle.
Man Arrested After Ambulance Crash
Police quickly arrested a 39-year-old man at the scene. He faces charges of affray, criminal damage, and drink driving. The suspect is currently held at Gablecross Police Station as investigations continue.
Inspector Condemns Attack on Emergency Workers
Inspector Steve 1 said: “It is a sad reality that while attending calls to protect the public, emergency service staff are put in situations where they fear for their own safety on a daily basis and Christmas Day is no exception unfortunately.”
“Nobody should be made to feel in danger when trying to carry out their work, especially when that work involves protecting our communities.”
“We will do all we can to protect emergency workers doing their job and urge the public to respect our officers and members of the ambulance service and fire service. Help us to help you.”
