Knife Rampage in Birmingham: Man Arrested After Deadly Stabbings
West Midlands police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of murder and seven counts of attempted murder following a terrifying stabbing spree in Birmingham.
Suspect Nabbed in Selly Oak After Overnight Hunt
Detectives worked through the night and arrested the suspect at a Selly Oak address at around 4am. He remains in custody as police question him over the early Sunday morning attacks that shook the city.
One Dead, Several Critically Injured in Series of Random Stabbings
- A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Irving Street in what is believed to be a random attack.
- A 19-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and remain in critical condition in hospital.
- Five others, aged 23 to 33, sustained less severe wounds.
The terrifying attacks began on Constitution Hill and continued on Livery Street, Irving Street, and ended on Hurst Street.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Evidence
“Officers worked through yesterday and into the early hours of this morning in a bid to trace the man we believe responsible for these terrible crimes,” said Chief Superintendent Steve Graham.
“We issued CCTV footage and had a strong public response. Thanks to those who shared our appeal and provided vital info.
“One lead took us to Selly Oak where the arrest was made.
“This is a key development but the investigation isn’t over. We urge anyone who witnessed the stabbings or has photos or videos to come forward.”
