Three Kent Police call handlers and dispatchers sprang into action while off-duty to save a woman’s life after a serious road crash in Gillingham.
Quick-Thinking Trio React to Life-Threatening Crash
Lucy, Abi, and Amber, friends and colleagues from Kent Police’s Force Control Room (FCR), were off duty just before 5pm on Tuesday, 4 January 2022 when they spotted a serious collision on Hoath Way.
A woman in her 70s had been knocked unconscious by a car. Bystanders had already stopped to help, with one performing CPR and others directing traffic on the fast dual carriageway.
CPR Life-Saving Efforts and Scene Protection
Lucy, trained in first aid with St John’s Ambulance and a former lifeguard, took over CPR until paramedics arrived. She stayed with the woman until she was safely transported to hospital.
Meanwhile, Abi and Amber formed a protective barrier around Lucy, shielding the injured woman with a large scarf to preserve her dignity and ease distress for onlookers on the busy road.
