Police Spot Suspected Uninsured Car
Swale Local Policing Team were cruising down Old Sheppey Way towards Iwade when, at around 1:50pm on Tuesday 3 May 2022, they clocked a car they believed was uninsured.
High-Speed Chase Puts Public at Risk
Officers flashed their lights and blared sirens demanding the driver stop. Instead, the driver sped off recklessly, weaving through traffic and endangering others on the busy Sheppey Crossing.
Snared Near Iwade With Drugs on Board
Just four minutes later, at 1:54pm, the rogue motorist pulled over near the Iwade A249 turn-off on the Sittingbourne side. Officers found a small stash of cannabis inside the car.
Man Arrested But Released Pending Enquiries
A 44-year-old Sittingbourne man was arrested on multiple charges: dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving whilst disqualified, no insurance, and possession of a class B drug.
He has since been released from custody while police carry out further investigations.
