Manchester Man Dies After Early Morning Assault
David Aubert, 59, was found dead days after a brutal assault in Manchester city centre. Police were called to Bloom Street at 4.45am on 2 June 2022 following reports of an attack. Emergency services took David to hospital, where he later left on his own.
Missing Report Filed Before Tragic Discovery
On 6 June, a family member reported David missing, prompting an official search. Horrifyingly, two days later, his body was discovered at an address on Upper Brook Street, Longsight, around 11.00am BST.
“Dave was an easy-going, likeable chap, well known locally for riding his bicycle,” his family said. “He was happy with his lot, caring, and had not a mean bone in his body. His death has devastated all who knew him, especially his three brothers.”
Police Probe Under Scrutiny
The incident has been handed to Greater Manchester Police’s Professional Standards Branch and referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for review.
Detective Chief Inspector David Meeney said: “Our thoughts are with David’s family, who desperately want answers. Several detectives are working hard on this investigation.”
“We are following up on multiple leads, including extensive CCTV footage reviews. Anyone who witnessed the assault on Bloom Street or has any information is urged to come forward.”
