Young Man Shot Dead in Grimesthorpe: Police Launch Murder Probe
Just after 1am, emergency services were called to a shooting on Grimesthorpe Road South. A man in his 20s had been shot inside a property. When ambulance crews arrived, he was already on his way to hospital.
The 20-year-old victim sadly died from his injuries shortly after arriving at Northern General Hospital.
Targeted Attack Suspected
Police say the shooting looks like a planned attack. The investigation is in its early stages, but officers are working flat out to crack the case.
“Cordons remain in place while officers carry out thorough searches and review CCTV footage,” said Senior Investigating Officer DCI Mark Oughton.
“Extra patrols are out to reassure the local community. Anyone worried should speak to our officers.”
