Human Skull Found in Remote Lincolnshire Farmland
A shocking discovery has rocked a quiet corner near Louth. A human skull was found in a duck pond close to Pear Tree Lane, Fulstow, sparking an ongoing police investigation.
Forensic Teams Swarm Scene at Dawn
Lincolnshire Police quickly cordoned off the area, setting up a forensic tent to protect the site. Officers have been on guard since first light after a local farmer spotted the skull around 4 a.m.
“It comes as a surprise,” said a nearby resident. “Everyone is wondering who it could be and how long it’s been there. It’s heartbreaking—it could be someone’s family member.”
The witness added the skull still had teeth, but no other remains have been reported so far. “You don’t expect something like this to happen next door,” another nearby local said, noting the increased police presence as more investigators arrived.
Investigators Hunt for Missing Person Matches
Officials are scouring the scene, including the dried-out ditches, searching for any clues. They plan to compare the skull’s DNA with national missing persons databases, working alongside pathologists and the National Crime Agency.
The spot lies along the old Grimsby-Louth railway line, an area where railway enthusiasts hope to eventually extend their tracks.
Police Confirm Ongoing, Lengthy Inquiry
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman confirmed: “At 12.37 p.m. on Thursday, a member of the public reported the bone in the pond. We believe it is a human skull, though forensic tests will confirm this, which may take several weeks.”
“We have cordoned off the area and expect to remain on site through the weekend and into Monday for a full search.”
