Notts Police PC Emily Clayton Saves Woman’s Life in Dramatic Rescue
PC Emily Clayton, a frontline officer at Jubilee House in Arnold, joined Nottinghamshire Police in 2018. Her rota 1 team regularly deals with tough and fast-changing incidents, from sudden deaths to violent attacks and suicide risks.
“You have to switch gears quickly,” says PC Clayton, a former youth worker and Police Federation rep. “One minute it’s a death, the next a violent incident, then a suicide risk. The paperwork never ends and the pressure is intense.”
Life-Saving Action During Christmas Emergency
PC Clayton’s toughest calls prove why she joined the force. On one recent incident, she was called out after a woman failed to meet friends. Unable to reach her, PC Clayton forced entry to her home, finding the woman struggling to breathe.
“I gave first aid and called an ambulance, which arrived within minutes. She was hospitalised but made it home for Christmas. If I hadn’t entered, she would have lost her life,” said PC Clayton. “It’s moments like these that make the difference—whether it’s enforcing the law or saving lives.”
