Two Daredevils Stuck on QEII Bridge as Police Move In

Essex Police are in a tense standoff with two individuals perched high on the QEII bridge. Officers and emergency teams are racing against time to bring them down safely.

High-Risk Rescue Underway

A specially raised platform is arriving imminently to help trained officers reach the two protestors. This equipment will allow them to safely engage and resolve the dangerous situation.

Chief Superintendent Speaks Out

“We are working as quickly and safely as possible to resolve this situation,” said Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow. “The two people have put themselves in serious danger and it presents a huge challenge for our emergency services.

“Our priority is keeping Essex moving while caring for those at height and our officers working to get them down.”

“Though we fully support the right to protest, risking lives and blocking others is unacceptable. We will take action against anyone who thinks they can cause chaos with impunity.”

Traffic Chaos Continues

National Highways has ruled the bridge unsafe to reopen, instead installing a contraflow through the tunnel to keep traffic flowing. Essex drivers face ongoing delays as police work to end the drama.
