Drunk Man Causes Swansational Chaos in Devon Harbour!
Swan Gone Rogue at Devon Harbour
A swan was spotted waddling around Devon’s Harbour yesterday, only to be whisked away by a drunken man. The bizarre incident unfolded on February 1, sparking a police response and public concern.
Police and Public Join Forces After Swan Crash
Devon and Cornwall Police rushed to Mutley Plain at 6.20pm. They discovered the swan had apparently been involved in a collision after it was removed from the Harbour. Fortunately, members of the public sprang into action, wrapping the bird in a blanket to protect it from harm.
Officers then carefully placed the swan in the back of a police car, showing “great skill and determination” in the rescue effort.
Swan Safe and Sound Thanks to Vet Care
The swan was taken to a local veterinary centre for urgent treatment. Police later tweeted that the brave bird was being “nursed back to health,” with “every swan” involved surviving the ordeal intact.
Contact Officer Mel Rooks, who handled the call, shared that one amusing police log entry read, “just passed someone stroking a swan,” calling it her “comment of the day.”
Hot Fuzz Swans Back in the Spotlight
The incident brings to mind Hot Fuzz, the beloved comedy classic where Sergeant Angel and PC Butterman battle a rebellious swan. Looks like Devon felt the swan drama firsthand!
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said, “It was reported that the swan had been struck by a vehicle. The public had wrapped it in a blanket and called the vets. Officers took it to the vet and left it in their care.”
