Police Launch Major Investigation Amid Multiple Arrests
Northumbria Police quickly launched a probe after reports of a brawl involving several people on Westmorland Road. Officers have already made 14 arrests as they hunt for those responsible.
“This is an absolutely devastating outcome and our thoughts are with Gordon’s family at this awful time,” said Chief Superintendent Helena Barron, Northumbria Police’s Area Commander for Newcastle and Gateshead.
“We are determined to find out the full circumstances that led to Gordon’s death. Our force will use every tactic to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
“At this early stage, we believe all parties involved were known to each other and there is no risk to the wider public.”
Community Support and Call for Information
Police continue to patrol the area to reassure locals and urge anyone with information to come forward. Concerns can be raised via the police website’s ‘Tell Us Something’ page or by calling 101, quoting log NP-20221109-0955.
Chief Superintendent Barron added, “I ask that Gordon’s family’s privacy is respected during this difficult time. We thank the public for their patience and cooperation as the investigation continues.”
