Police Sniff Out Stolen Builders’ Tools in Hoads Wood
On Thursday 6 January 2022, two police officers on patrol stumbled on stolen goods hidden deep in Hoads Wood. Around 12.30pm, while tackling rural crime, the constables spotted fresh tyre tracks leading into the woodland. Following the trail, they uncovered a trailer packed with builders’ tools and a nearby generator — all believed to have been nicked.
High-Value Stolen Gear Seized
Quick checks confirmed the items and trailer were stolen. Using their 4×4, the officers hauled the trailer to the edge of the wood where everything was confiscated. The Rural Task Force, a specialist team targeting countryside crime, continues hunting for the rightful owners and crooks behind the theft.
Fighting Rural Crime with Cutting-Edge Tech
The Rural Task Force partners up with agencies like the RSPCA, RSPB, 1 Agency, and local councils to tackle rural issues. Understanding that countryside residents can feel isolated, the force has launched handy tools like Country Eye and Farm Watch. These platforms let locals report suspicious activity fast and share information securely.
