Bank Holiday Hoax Sparks Massive Brighton Rescue Effort

An 18-year-old from Luton has been arrested after triggering a massive search operation on Brighton Seafront. The youth claimed someone was missing in the water around 6:30pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

Emergency Services Scramble in Vain

The call mobilised Shoreham & Newhaven Coastguard teams, Brighton and Shoreham RNLI lifeboats, Sussex Police, and Coastguard Helicopter 175. They launched a frantic search lasting more than four hours.

Missing Person Found Safe at Home

After the exhaustive operation, the alleged missing person was discovered safe and sound at home. Police have since arrested the 18-year-old caller for making the false report.
