Reckless Driver Forces Ambulance Off Road in Near-Catastrophic Crash
Police are hunting a motorist who caused an ambulance on a 999 emergency call to crash near Alton, Hampshire. The scary incident happened just before midnight on September 20, when a white car suddenly swerved in front of the speeding ambulance on the A339.
Ambulance Swerves and Flips, £26k Damage
Dashcam footage from the ambulance reveals the white vehicle’s dangerous move, forcing the ambulance to veer sharply and end up on its side in a ditch. The crash inflicted around £26,000 worth of damage and delayed the emergency response – a delay that police warn was “considerable and potentially life-threatening” for the patient inside.
Ford Fiesta or Focus Flee Scene – Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
The hit-and-run car is believed to be a white Ford Fiesta or Focus. It sped off without stopping. Hampshire Constabulary has released the dashcam video and is appealing for anyone with information or footage to come forward. Another ambulance had to be diverted to help the patient because of the crash.
