Armed police swooped on Anerley Road, Penge, in the early hours of Sunday, March 9, after reports of gunshots shattered the night.
Rapid Police Response
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were alerted just before 1am. Armed response units were quickly scrambled to the scene, ready for action.
Parts of Anerley Road were cordoned off as officers hunted for clues and collected forensic evidence.
Investigation Still Unfolding
So far, it’s unclear if anyone was hurt or if a firearm was actually fired. Police have not made any arrests yet.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“We are aware of reports of gunshots in the Anerley Road area and are currently investigating. Armed officers remain in the vicinity as a precaution. We urge anyone with information to come forward immediately,” said a Met Police source.
