Bomb Hoax Chaos at Stansted as Three Men Arrested on easyJet Flight

Armed Police Storm Plane

Armed officers swooped on an easyJet plane at London Stansted Airport on Wednesday evening after reports of a bomb threat. The flight, bound for Amsterdam, was grounded shortly after 7.40pm. Specialist police swiftly boarded the A319 and hauled three men off the aircraft, arresting them on suspicion of staging a bomb hoax.

Runway Shut and Flights Diverted

The runway was slammed shut for 50 minutes as the plane was moved to a secure area. This sent scores of other jets circling in the sky and forced six incoming flights to divert to alternative airports. Many others faced delays of up to two hours.

Police Confirm No Threat on Board

Essex Police said: “Our officers worked quickly and robustly to resolve a security alert on board an easyJet flight from Stansted to Amsterdam and arrest three people.

“Following a thorough search of the plane, we are confident that there is nothing of concern on board.”

The airport confirmed the runway closure lasted from 7.45pm to 8.35pm, adding the runway has now fully reopened.

Travel Mayhem for Passengers

Stansted Airport warned travellers about ongoing extra security checks, with the affected flight currently held on a remote stand. The disruption caused widespread delays, with flights arriving and departing well behind schedule.
