Armed Police Swarm Flat in Brighton Over Gun Incident

Armed officers descended on a flat on Belgrave Place, Brighton, late Thursday night. A large police cordon sealed off the area around the junction with Madeira Drive as chaos unfolded.

Residents Locked Down as Police Search Property

The drama kicked off just before 11pm when response teams, armed units, and a sniffer dog arrived at the scene. Locals say officers demanded entry into one of the flats and told them to stay inside for their safety.

“It’s drug and gun related,” a stunned witness told us.

One Arrest Confirmed After Firearms Deployed

A Sussex Police spokesman confirmed the incident began shortly before 9pm on St George’s Road, after reports of a man with a firearm.

“Enquiries led police to Belgrave Place where firearms were deployed,” the spokesperson said.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and remains in custody.”

Officers managing the scene have warned residents to keep away from the cordon and remain indoors while the investigation continues.
