A massive fire tore through a large goods vehicle in Hurstbourne Priors this afternoon, sparking a series of explosions that rocked the village. Thankfully, nearby homes escaped damage, but a beloved thatched bus stop wasn’t so lucky – it was completely destroyed in the blaze.
Driver Escapes Moments Before Explosions
The lorry driver pulled over as soon as he spotted the flames and made a quick escape just before the explosions began. Police believe the blasts came from the lorry’s huge tyres bursting in the intense heat.
Power Cuts Hit Village as Fire Spreads
The fire quickly spread from the driver’s cab to an overhead power cable, cutting electricity to many homes in the area. Fire crews from several stations raced to the scene and used multiple hose reels and jets to battle the rapidly spreading flames.
