Teen Arrested Over Bootle Gun Discharges
A 16-year-old boy from Kirkby has been arrested after two separate firearm discharges rocked Merseyside. Police stopped a taxi on Peel Road in Bootle last night, Wednesday 10th July, during a multi-agency swoop targeting crime hotspots in the area.
Weapons Charges Linked to May and June Incidents
The teenager faces suspicion of firearm possession tied to two incidents: a shooting on South Road, Crosby on 7th May, and a damage-only gun discharge on Elm Gardens, Seaforth on 9th June. He remains in custody, awaiting questioning by detectives.
Seven Warrants Executed, Several Arrests Made
- A 34-year-old Litherland man was nabbed for suspected motorbike theft.
- A 35-year-old Bootle woman was held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, plus cannabis possession.
Both have since been released under investigation. Others voluntarily visited police stations over drug and money laundering allegations.
Crackdown Targets Bootle’s Violent Crime Hotspots
The raid saw Merseyside Police join forces with Sefton Council and local housing trusts to tackle surging violence, including gun crime and arson, in Bootle.
“We had a successful day yesterday, working with our partners, to take action following incidents of serious violence in the Bootle community,” said Superintendent Graeme Robson, Area Commander for Sefton.
“I would like to thank the public for their patience while we carried out warrants, searches and stop checks in their neighbourhoods and I hope they felt reassured by our presence and proactivity. Operation Target is an important tool for Merseyside Police to show that serious and violent crime will not be tolerated on our streets and we will take action.”
