A 60-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a pickup truck in Bromley on Wednesday afternoon.

Serious Crash on Bromley High Street

The shocking accident happened around 4:10pm near the busy junction of High Street and Masons Hill. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, sparking a major response.

Woman Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance team treated the woman for a serious head injury at the scene. She was then rushed by road to a major trauma centre with life-threatening wounds.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On Wednesday, 14 May at 16:12hrs, police responded to reports of a collision involving a truck and pedestrian on High Street, Bromley.”

“A 60-year-old woman was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Her injuries are believed to be life threatening.”

Pickup Driver Arrested and Bailed

The 39-year-old female driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drink or drugs. She has now been bailed pending further investigation.

Road Reopened After Hours-Long Closure

The crash scene led to a lengthy road closure while police carried out their inquiries. The road has since reopened, but the investigation continues.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: “We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer, along with London’s Air Ambulance.”

“We treated an elderly patient for a serious head injury and took her to a major trauma centre by road as a priority.”

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward to aid their investigation into the Bromley collision.
