A senior Cal Fire officer has been brutally killed in a stabbing in Ramona, San Diego County. Capt. Rebecca Marodi was found with multiple stab wounds inside a Rancho Villa Road residence late Monday night.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation
San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies rushed to the scene around 9pm after reports of an assault. Despite frantic efforts by first responders, Capt. Marodi was pronounced dead at the scene.
So far, no suspect has been named and police have yet to uncover a motive. Authorities continue to piece together what led to the fatal attack on the respected firefighter.
Remembering a Brave Firefighter
Capt. Marodi was a dedicated Cal Fire veteran, known for battling wildfires across California. Social media recently showcased her work with Cal Fire Riverside’s Engine Company 83 during the Eaton Fire. In December 2022, she was congratulated publicly by Riverside County’s Hazmat team on her promotion.
The firefighting community is reeling. Fellow firefighters have expressed deep grief and admiration for her decades of service and bravery.
