Captain Tom’s Daughter Admits Pocketing £800,000 From Book Profits

Hannah Ingram-Moore, daughter of national hero Captain Sir Tom Moore, has shockingly revealed she kept £800,000 from the sales of her late father’s three books. This comes despite one book’s prologue explicitly stating all profits would go to the charity bearing his name.

Family Firm, Not Charity, Scored The Cash

Speaking to Piers Morgan on TalkTV, Ingram-Moore said Sir Tom wanted the earnings lodged with Club Nook Ltd, a family business separate from the Captain Tom Foundation charity. She explained the book deal was brokered by her father’s agent, and that was the arrangement he wished for.

Sir Tom Moore captured the nation’s heart when he raised £38.9 million for the NHS by walking 100 garden laps before his 100th birthday, passing away in February 2021.

But thousands who bought his books, including the bestseller Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day, had no idea the money wasn’t hitting charity coffers.

Paid While CEO – And Charity Under Fire

Adding fuel to the fire, Ingram-Moore admitted she was handed £18,000 by the charity for showing up at the 2021 Virgin Media O2 Captain Tom Foundation Connector Awards — despite already being CEO. Her family business, Maytrix Group, received the money, with £16,000 going to her and just £2,000 to the charity.

The Captain Tom Foundation isn’t out of trouble. The Charity Commission launched an inquiry into its management last year. Officials said their intervention hit fundraising “massively.” This summer, the charity even stopped taking donations after the controversial demolition of an unauthorised spa pool block at Ingram-Moore’s home.

Public Feels Misled Over Charitable Donations

Ingram-Moore’s husband and children joined the interview, insisting nothing on the books led buyers to believe profits were destined for charity. Yet readers were told otherwise in the autobiography’s prologue, which promised proceeds would support the foundation.

The scandal raises serious questions about transparency and who really benefits from Captain Tom’s legacy.
