Surrey Chief Tops National Police Chiefs’ Council

Chief Constable Gavin Stephens has bagged the top job as Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC). He will stay on as Surrey’s Chief Constable until Spring 2023 before stepping up to this national role.

Stephens Pays Tribute to Surrey Community

Serving Surrey has been “an incredible privilege,” Stephens said. “It’s a fantastic county with passionate, supportive communities I’ve worked with throughout my career.”

Bittersweet Farewell

He admitted he’ll be sad to leave behind Surrey Police’s officers, staff, and volunteers but called the new appointment an “honour.”
