Kharkiv Civilians Flee Russian Attack: Over 1,700 Evacuated

Civilians are scrambling to escape the fallout of Russia’s latest assault on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. Regional governor Oleg Sinegubov revealed the grim details on Telegram this morning as residents flee for safety.

A total of 1,775 people have been forced out of their homes across various districts:

  • 440 fled from Kharkiv district, surrounding the city itself
  • 12 escaped from Bohodukhiv district, northwest of Kharkiv

Russian Strikes Leave Dead and Injured

The relentless Russian shelling has devastated residential areas and vital infrastructure. Governor Sinegubov reported a 49-year-old man killed in Slobozhanske village and an 82-year-old woman slain during overnight attacks in Kharkiv city. Two men were also injured.

A Russian missile hit an industrial zone in Kharkiv, injuring six employees. In Odesa, another missile strike left three more wounded. The civilian toll keeps mounting as the city struggles to cope.

Ukrainian Forces Fighting Back

The Ukrainian Air Force struck back overnight, shooting down 13 Shahed drones targeting Kharkiv and Dnipro regions. Debris from the destroyed drones caused injuries to four people and triggered a fire in an office building.

Additionally, Ukrainian fighters brought down a Russian Su-25 fighter-bomber over Donetsk. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged vigilance during these critical days.

Ocheretyne: The Village Under Siege

In Donetsk, the village of Ocheretyne is caught in the crossfire. Russian troops have advanced, hitting Kyiv’s forces with artillery, drones, and bombs. Residents continue to flee this hellscape — including a remarkable 98-year-old woman who walked nearly 10 kilometres alone, relying on her cane, to reach Ukrainian frontline safety.
