Peaceful Protest in Crawley: Sussex Police Keep Calm and Order
Sussex Police pulled off a smooth operation at a protest in Crawley on Friday, August 9. A strong police presence ensured the event stayed peaceful and the public safe.
Anti-Immigration Demo Sees One Arrest
The protest featured a small anti-immigration demonstration but was largely trouble-free. Still, a 40-year-old man was arrested for threatening or abusive behaviour under the Public Order Act. He’s currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
Two More Men Given Section 35 Dispersal Orders
Alongside the arrest, two other men were escorted away by cops and slapped with Section 35 dispersal orders. This bans them from returning to the area for up to 48 hours, helping police keep the peace.
Police Praise Local Community for Support
“We would like to thank the community for their support, engagement, and providing information to help us keep people safe,” said a Sussex Police spokesperson.
The strong police presence and quick actions meant the protest went ahead without major disruption. Officers will continue to monitor the situation to maintain calm and safety in the community.
