Gravesend crackdown: Cops hit the streets on Friday, 17 January 2025, targeting crooks and dodgy drivers in a major swoop across the town.
Joint Police and Council Blitz
Local officers joined forces with Gravesham Borough Council Environmental Enforcement and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Together, they patrolled multiple hotspots aiming to nab criminals and weed out unroadworthy vehicles.
Big Haul: Drugs, Offences, and Unsafe Cars
- Drug bust: Police stopped a suspicious driver, uncovering a stash of Class A drugs, two mobile phones, and £440 in cash. The suspect was arrested on the spot.
- Traffic trouble: Four drivers copped offence reports for driving without insurance, using phones behind the wheel, and rocking illegal number plates. Plus, two uninsured cars were seized.
- Safety failings: Three cars were slapped with prohibition notices over illegal window tints and faulty lights. A heavy goods vehicle was also issued an inspection notice.
Chief Inspector Issues Warning
“Motorists with serious vehicle defects should think twice before hitting the roads in Gravesend,” said Chief Inspector Will Lay.
“With our partners’ expertise, we’re cracking down hard to bring offenders to justice and keep law-abiding drivers safe.”
More Crackdowns to Come
Officials confirmed this operation is just the start. More patrols will roll out across Gravesend to boost road safety and keep criminals off the streets.
Residents: Spot something dodgy? Report it to the police immediately.
