Cyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on A259 at Littlehampton
Police are probing a fatal smash between a car and cyclist just before 6.30am on Thursday, 1 August. The tragedy struck on the A259 Hawthorn Road, Wick, Littlehampton, as both headed east.
Hit-and-Run Driver Caught
The cyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Shockingly, the driver of the car fled but was later tracked down by police. A man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
Road Closures and Appeal for Witnesses
The A259 eastbound was shut to traffic while officers dealt with the crash. Police thanked motorists for their patience during the disruption.
