Teenagers Nabbed After Daredevil Chase Along Live Railway in Brighton

Four teens were arrested last night after a wild attempt to outrun cops by sprinting along an active railway line in Brighton. The 16 and 17-year-olds were caught following a high-octane pursuit involving several police units and a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

Stolen Car Sparks High-Speed Drama

The chase kicked off when officers spotted a vehicle reported stolen back in March from a burglary in the Weald area. Police first spotted the swiped car on Coldean Lane, then later on Stanford Avenue. When officers signalled them to stop, the teens hit the gas and bolted.

Fleeing Suspects Risk Lives on Railway Tracks

Abandoning the stolen car on Cumberland Road, the four teens dashed towards Preston Park train station. They trespassed into a maintenance yard before crossing onto the live railway tracks in a desperate bid to escape. Despite the danger, police, backed by NPAS, quickly caught up.

Charged with Multiple Offences

The group includes two 17-year-old and two 16-year-old boys. They now face serious charges ranging from dangerous driving and theft to trespassing on railway property and burglary. All four remain in police custody.

Police Appeal to Locals for Help

Officers investigating the case urge residents in Weald to check garages and outbuildings for any missing items. Anyone who finds stolen goods or has dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time is asked to contact police online or call 101, quoting reference 1260 of 15/04. Witnesses spotted during the chase are also encouraged to come forward.
