Tragic Death of Linda Franklin Sparks Police Appeal

A beloved woman has died after being hit by a car in Colchester last month. Linda Franklin, 39, was struck by a Ford Escort on Avon Way around 6pm on Thursday, 27 August.

Family Mourns ‘Rare and Kind Soul’

Linda’s family paid a heartfelt tribute. “Linda was a wonderful sister, aunt, and friend,” they said. “Though the youngest of three sisters, she had a fierce spirit, always looking out for us.”

“She was there when we needed her and supported us through some very difficult times, regardless of what she was going through. She was a rare and kind soul.”

They added: “Linda leaves a gaping hole in our lives that will never be filled. We’ll always cherish her infectious laugh and all our happy memories together. We love you, Lin.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detectives are investigating the crash and want to hear from anyone who saw Linda or was near Charles Pell Road before the collision. Senior Investigating Officer Inspector Mark Fraser said:

“We’d like to speak to anyone who saw Linda on or around Charles Pell Road before 6pm on 27 August. We’re also interested in anyone who saw a silver Audi A3 nearby after the collision. The car would have front-end damage and traffic cones stuck under its bumper.”

He added: “If you have dash cam, doorbell, or CCTV footage from the area, please contact us. You can email [email protected], call 101, or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
