Tragic Daylight Murder of Disabled Man in Clapton Shocks Community
Detectives are hunting for witnesses after Jade Anthony Barnett, a 38-year-old disabled man, was fatally stabbed while riding his mobility scooter in broad daylight in Clapton.
Attack on Rushmore Road
The horrific stabbing happened around 3:40pm on Wednesday, August 28, on Rushmore Road, E5. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly Jade died from his injuries at once.
Police Make Strides But Still Need Help
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the probe. He told locals: “We are making good progress piecing together the events leading to Jade’s murder, but we need your help.”
“Jade was stabbed in the middle of the day in the street. There are people who saw what happened or caught it on camera but haven’t come forward yet.”
DCI Clarke urged anyone with photos, videos, or dashcam footage to upload evidence anonymously via the Met’s dedicated online portal.
Suspects Released, Investigation Rages On
- Two men, aged 28 and 21, initially arrested for murder, have been released with no further action.
- Police continue to hunt for the killer and determine the motive.
