Arson Attack Destroys 25 Cars at Newtownards Dealership

An early morning blaze ripped through a car dealership at the Landsdowne Industrial Estate in Newtownards, leaving around 25 vehicles and a trailer badly damaged.

Firefighters Rush to Scene After 3.20am Flames

Detective Sergeant Shivers revealed police were alerted to the fire at 3.20am on Tuesday 18 April. Officers teamed up with the Northern Ireland link="linked">Fire and Rescue Service to bring the inferno under control.

“This was a completely reckless attack which could have had serious consequences. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported,” said Detective Sergeant Shivers.

Police Probe Possible Drug Gang Feud Link

The authorities are treating the incident as arson. Investigators haven’t ruled out motives but suspect the attack may be tied to an ongoing feud between rival drugs gangs in Ards and North Down.

Detectives appeal to anyone who saw suspicious activity or has dash-cam or CCTV footage to come forward. Contact police on 101 quoting reference 108 of 18/04/23.
