Teen thugs launch shocking assault outside Edinburgh’s Omni Centre

Attack at Busy Bus Stop

A 41-year-old man was viciously attacked at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 29 December 2022, at a bus stop right outside Edinburgh’s Omni Centre.

Two male youths approached him before launching a serious assault. The victim was rushed to the Royal Infirmary for treatment but has since been discharged.

Police Hunt Two Suspects

Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe from Edinburgh CID revealed the suspects fled the scene on foot, running past a crowd near the Omni Centre heading towards Leith Walk.

He described the attackers as late teens, dressed in black tracksuits and white trainers.

Public Appeal for Witnesses

“The area was busy with bystanders at the time,” DC Lipscombe said. “There was also a long queue of traffic nearby. Motorists may have witnessed the assault or caught it on dash-cam.”

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3075 of 29 December. Witnesses who wish to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
