Woman Found Dead in London House Fire – Two Arrested
Police raced to a blaze on Railton Road at 4.08am on Monday, 24 January, after reports of a fire at a residential property. Firefighters and paramedics joined officers at the scene.
A 46-year-old woman was discovered unresponsive inside the home and later pronounced dead. Her death is now being treated as suspicious.
Double Arrest Over Suspicious Death
Two suspects, a 47-year-old man and a 17-year-old male, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday evening, 26 January. Both remain in police custody as the Met’s Specialist Crime Command leads the probe.
Investigation Underway – Police Seek Witnesses
“This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss,” said Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood.
“A dedicated team of investigators are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the fire. I urge anyone in the area during the early hours of Monday who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.”
“We want to reassure the local community that there is no evidence of any wider risk at this time.”
