Watch Snatched in Brazen Pantiles Scam
A man in his fifties fell victim to a crafty theft in The Pantiles on Tuesday, January 10 at around 12:25pm. Two women approached him, speaking in foreign tongues and claiming they couldn’t communicate in English. They asked for directions, distracting him in a cunning ploy.
Thieves Strike with Sleight of Hand
After the man kindly gave directions, one woman grabbed his wrist, shook his hand, and pressed his watch to her chest. Moments later, the victim realised his precious Rolex Air-King had vanished. The pair escaped swiftly, believed to have jumped into a car driven by a third accomplice.
Police Warn of More Potential Targets
Detective Sergeant Rachel Howson of West Kent CID warned, “It’s likely these suspects targeted other victims around Tunbridge Wells.” She urged anyone with information to get in touch.
“The Rolex stolen is extremely sentimental — it belonged to the victim’s late father. It’s a Rolex Air-King, serial number 160 Y297696. Please call 01622 604100 quoting reference 46/6560/23 if you know anything.”
