Newborn Baby Boy Found Abandoned in Kings Norton

A baby boy was discovered on The Mounds, off Shannon Road in Kings Norton, at around 5.40pm last Thursday—just a day before St. George’s Day. Hospital staff have since named him George.

Found Wrapped and Alone, Baby George Is Doing Well

The tiny tot was possibly only hours old when a dog walker found him, clothed and wrapped in a grey and white blanket. He wore grey leggings and an orange and white striped T-shirt with a dinosaur motif.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Baby George is healthy and doing well.”

Police Urge Public to Help Find Baby George’s Mother

However, police remain deeply worried because baby George’s mother is still missing. Detective Inspector Neil Hunt, leading the investigation, said:

“You are my primary concern right now, and we really need to make sure you’re okay. I don’t know the circumstances around George’s birth but, as a parent myself, I know exactly how overwhelming becoming a parent can be.

“We’re ready to offer you any help and support you may need. George is safe and well, and your health and wellbeing is our priority – please be assured that you are not in any trouble.”

Police are appealing for anyone who was near The Mounds between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday 22 April to come forward. They also urge anyone who knows George’s mother to contact them immediately.
