Chilling Discovery: Roy Bigg’s Body Found in Freezer After Nearly a Decade
In a shocking twist, the remains of Roy Bigg were found stuffed in a freezer at what used to be Simpson’s Wine Bar on Romford Road, Forest Gate. Builders stumbled upon the grisly scene around 3pm on Friday, 15 October 2021, in the basement of the building. Roy had vanished without a trace back in February 2012.
Police Appeal for Information as Mystery Deepens
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command revealed that Roy’s body could have been chilling in the freezer for years. She urged anyone who knew Roy to come forward.
“Speaking to people who knew him will help us establish not only his lifestyle and habits, but also when he was last seen,” said DCI Allen. “If you knew Roy, please get in touch with us – his birth date was 8 September 1944, and we believe he was about 70 years old when he died. It doesn’t matter if it’s been a long time or you only knew him briefly, any information could be vital to our inquiries.”
Inconclusive Post-Mortem, Identification via Dental Records
The cause of Roy’s death remains unclear following a post-mortem. His identity was confirmed by dental records. The police have released a photo of Roy, hoping it will jog memories.
DCI Allen added: “We’ve released an image of Roy in hopes that anyone who knew him will step forward. If you don’t want to speak directly to police, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously. Whatever you do, please make the call.”
