Man Dragged Under Car in Chessington Hit-and-Run Murder

Detectives are hunting for answers after 25-year-old Liam Dent was killed in a brutal hit-and-run in Chessington. The chilling incident happened just after midnight on Friday, 26 July, on Moor Lane.

Driver Flees, Victim Dragged Several Yards

Police say the driver slammed into Liam and then fled the scene, dragging him under the car for some distance. Paramedics rushed to the scene but Liam was pronounced dead at the roadside.

Arrest Made as Burnt-Out Cars Found Nearby

A 17-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder on 1 August and later released on bail pending further inquiries. Investigators discovered a burnt-out Ford S Max believed to be the culprit’s vehicle about a mile away in Epsom, along with two other stolen cars set ablaze.

Police Point to Possible Pub Dispute

Detective Inspector Vicky Tunstall revealed the attack “appears pre-meditated” and may link back to a clash between two groups outside The Lucky Rover pub earlier that night. The cars involved—a grey Ford S Max, black BMW, and silver Volvo—all had false plates and were stolen.

“Our thoughts and sincere condolences remain with Liam’s family and friends,” said DI Tunstall. “We urge anyone with information, dash cam footage, or who witnessed suspicious activity around Moor Lane or Cyclamen Way to come forward.”
