Stalker Jailed for Ruthless Harassment Campaign
Paul Lurkins, 54, has been locked up for two years and nine months following a chilling stalking spree. The RAF Brize Norton resident was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, 27 July.
Jury Convicts Lurkins After Harrowing Trial
Lurkins was unanimously found guilty of stalking a former partner, causing serious alarm or distress, along with three counts of criminal damage. The court heard how, after their short relationship ended, Lurkins launched a relentless campaign of terror against the woman.
Stalking Spanned Several Locations, Causing Havoc
- Tracked victim to her parents’ and grandparents’ homes
- Followed her to a hospital
- Spotted peering through a pub window while she was inside
- Wrecked her car beyond repair
- Damaged her new partner’s vehicle
- Bombarded her with abusive messages
The crimes unfolded between 2017 and 2018 across Slough, Kenilworth, Coventry, and Bristol.
Investigator Calls for Victims to Speak Out
“No one should suffer what this victim endured,” said Specialist Investigator Beth McErlain. “Lurkins’ refusal to accept the breakup caused her deep anguish. She was forced to leave her family home, limit contact with loved ones to avoid him, and live in constant fear.
“Lurkins rightly received a custodial sentence. We hope this lets the victim finally move on and rebuild her life.”
McErlain urged all victims of stalking or harassment to report offenders immediately. Support is available through police on 101, online reporting, and organisations like Victims First.
