Tragic Blaze Claims Life of 18-Year-Old in North Shields

In the early hours of Monday, fire crews battled a fierce blaze at a property on Vicarage Street, North Shields. Three people escaped, but one was found dead inside.

Although formal ID is pending, police believe the victim is 18-year-old Leah Casson.

Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute

“As a family we are totally devastated by what has happened,” they said.

“Leah was an outgoing, bubbly young woman who we loved so much, and we can’t believe she has gone.

“Please let us grieve for her as a family and respect our privacy at this time.”

Suspected Arson Sparks Police Appeal

Authorities are treating the fire as a suspected arson and urge anyone with information to come forward.

“Our investigation continues as we work to establish the exact cause of the fire and how Leah died,” police said.
