Ten Cats Abandoned in Shocking New Year’s Day Animal Cruelty Case in Paisley
Heartless Act Under Busy Flyover
On New Year’s Day, a passerby made a grim discovery beneath the A737 flyover on Blackstoun Road, Paisley. Ten cats were dumped in two cramped pet carriers, left alone to fend for themselves in freezing conditions. The shocking find has sparked outrage and a race to find the callous culprits.
Breeds Left to Suffer
Scottish SPCA Inspector Isla Bell revealed the abandoned animals are a mix of Persian cross and ragdoll cross breeds, ranging in age. “They were packed tightly into tiny carriers with almost no room to move,” Bell said. “This cruel confinement risked suffocation and severe distress.” None of the cats had microchips or collars, making it tough to track down their owners.
SPCA Steps In, Public Appeal Launched
The rescued cats are now safe and receiving care at a Scottish SPCA animal rescue and rehoming centre. Inspector Bell issued a heartfelt plea: “If anyone recognises these cats or knows who left them here, please get in touch.”
