Armed Police Swarm Brighton Hospital After Knife Attack
Chaos erupted at Brighton Hospital on Sunday morning as armed police swooped in to arrest a man following a terrifying knife attack.
Hospital Goes on Lockdown
Staff quickly locked down the hospital estate while officers scoured the grounds searching for the attacker. A 56-year-old man was left injured, but police confirm his injuries are not life-threatening.
Knife Attacker Caught Near Hospital
Shortly before 10am, armed cops arrested a 30-year-old man at a property on Wilson Avenue. He’s now in custody facing attempted murder charges.
Police Rule Out Terrorism
Police have stressed this was an isolated incident with no links to terrorism. They say there’s no evidence of any further threat or other suspects involved.
“This is an isolated and unexplained incident and is not being treated as terrorism at this time,” police said.
The dramatic armed police operation has left locals shaken but relieved that swift action stopped the attacker in his tracks.
