The M27 Westbound near Ower was shut down after a BMW X5 crashed and exploded into flames just after 8.30pm on Sunday night. The drama unfolded when the vehicle, involved in a collision minutes earlier, suddenly burst into a blazing fireball.

Brave Passersby Pull Driver from Burning Car

Witnesses stopped in their tracks as the BMW left the carriageway and went up in flames. Courageous motorists rushed to the scene, pulling the driver to safety just moments before the vehicle was completely engulfed by fire.

A local woman, speaking anonymously, praised the heroes: “There were many brave people who stopped to pull someone out of the burning car, very dangerous and very brave of those involved.” She added that many bystanders shockingly pulled out their phones to snap photos before emergency crews arrived.

Police Close Road as Fire Crews Battle Blaze

Emergency services cordoned off the westbound carriageway while firefighters tackled the raging inferno and police launched an investigation. The road remained closed throughout the night, reopening fully just after 11.30pm.
